Some major causes of backbiting:

Anger – Anger is a cause which should be brought under complete control. If you are determined to take revenge upon a person out of anger, know that God will take revenge upon you out of anger for your back-biting as He has prohibited you from that.

The Muslim has to guard his tongue and avoid things that have been forbidden. Among these forbidden things which people often take lightly are gheebah (backbiting), buhtan (slander) and nameemah (malicious gossip). 

Importance of Dua in Islam

Allah Almighty says in the Qur’an:

KEEPING APPOINTMENTS, DELAYS AND CANCELLATION

In the first verse of Surat Al-Mai’da, Allah called upon the believers ‘O’ you the Believers, fulfil your promises.’ In Surat Maryam Allah also praised Prophet Ismail may peace be upon him ‘He was true to his promise. He was a Messenger and a Prophet.’

One day, Moses delivered such an impressive sermon that all who heard it were deeply moved. Someone in the congregation asked: “0 Messenger of Allah, is there another man on earth more learned than you?” Moses replied: “No!”, believing so, as Allah had given him the power of miracles and honored him with the Torah.
