Names Of Allah – Al-Wahabb Al-Razzaq

   The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said while supplicating and praising Allah, “I cannot count Your praises. You are as You have praised Yourself.” Allah has mentioned in the Quran His Names and Attributes, which we can use when calling upon Him and asking Him for His blessings. We pray to Allah by calling upon Him with His Names and say, “I ask You by every Name that You have named Yourself with, revealed in Your Book, taught to any one of Your creation, or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that is with You, to make the Qur’an the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my distress.” Learning His Names helps us understand how to call upon Allah and strengthens our relationship with Him. Allah says, “And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them” (وَلِلَّهِ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ فَادْعُوهُ بِهَا). In this article, we will continue exploring the Beautiful Names of Allah by learning about Names Of Allah – Al-Wahhab Al-Razzaq (The Bestower, and The Provider.)

                Al-Wahhab الوهاب

     Al-Wahhab is the One Who is Generous in giving abundantly without expecting anything in return. The Name Al-Wahhab also refers to the One Who gives generously and abundantly without needing to calculate or withhold. The Name Al-Wahhab is mentioned three times in the Quran. One of these occurrences is in Surah Al-Imran, Ayah 8: “(They say): ‘Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.’”

The believer must show his submission to Allah when calling upon Him. He admits his weakness and acknowledges that, were it not for Allah, his heart could have lost its way and deviated from the truth. We acknowledge that guiding our hearts is from Allah, Al-Wahhab. He guides our hearts without asking for anything in return, and His gifts to us are endless. We learn from this Name and this Du’a that all success in this life comes from Allah, and whatever good we do is by His guidance and permission. Allah has commanded that good and bad deeds be recorded, and by His mercy and generosity, He forgives us and grants us His mercy.

   It is also mentioned in Surah Saad, Ayah 9: “Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower?” Allah challenges the ideas that people may have about the distribution of Mercy and provision. Allah has made these treasures solely His, and nothing can stand in the way of His gifts. No one can prevent what Allah has destined for someone else. This Ayah teaches us that our hearts should be attached only to Allah and that all the treasures of this life are created and controlled by Him. Lastly, in Surah Saad, Ayah 35: “He said: ‘My Lord! Forgive me, and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me: Verily, You are the Bestower.’” When you contemplate all the gifts and blessings that you enjoy at the moment, remember Allah. The blessings you enjoy now are from Allah, the Bestower. This is a call to thank Allah for His endless gifts.

Ar-Razzaq ٱلْرَّزَّاقُ

Al-Razzaq is the One Who makes sustenance reach His slaves. Sustenance includes everything that benefits a person, whether it is lawful or unlawful. He is the Provider and Sustainer of all His creatures. He is the One Who creates all the means of nourishment and provides His creatures with their livelihoods. He is the Provider of growth for everything that is good for the body, the soul, and the mind. Since He is the only One Who can provide sustenance, we should seek it from Allah. Understanding this frees a person from humbling himself before other people in pursuit of provision. With this understanding, a Muslim’s heart will be filled with contentment and acceptance of Allah’s Decree. May Allah give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter. May Allah help us to remember Him, give Him thanks, and perform His worship in the best manner.

Knowing that Allah is Al-Wahhab, the Bestower, and Al-Razzaq, the Provider, fills the heart with gratitude and contentment. May Allah bless us with His endless gifts and provide us with what is good in this life and the Hereafter.
