Names of Allah Al-Mumin Al-Muhaymin Al-Aziz

Your faith in Allah begins with acknowledging your weakness, your poverty, and your need for a supreme and unlimited power that ensures your peace and safety. It is a power you turn to for help and refuge when you feel distressed and helpless. This power is revealed to us through Names of Allah Al-Mumin Al-Muhaymin Al-Aziz. Allah said

Is not He (better than your gods) Who responds to the distressed one, when he calls Him, and Who removes the evil, and makes you inheritors of the earth, generations after generations. Is there any ilah (god) with Allah? Little is that you remember (Al-Namal:62)

Thus, both you and I need to learn about the Names of Allah so that we can worship Allah with knowledge and certainty.

Al-Mu’min

(The Infuser of Faith)

The Affirmer of Truth, The Guarantor, The Giver of Faith.

Al-Mu’min is the One Who bears witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Him, and Who assures His believers of the truth of their faith in Him. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “Al-Mu’min means that His creation is safe from being wronged.”

This Name is mentioned in the Qur’an in Surah Al-Hashr, verse 23: السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ (“The Giver of Peace, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer”). Allah praises Himself with the attributes of perfection and majesty. He is the One Who sent His Messengers and revealed His Books, which are filled with proofs and evidence. He fulfills all His promises to His creation, grants justice and security to His servants, and never wrongs anyone. He is the only One Who can protect us from all forms of harm and adversity.

Al-Muhaymin

(The Guardian)

The Preserver of Safety & Overseeing Protector.

Al-Muhaymin is the One Who witnesses the words and deeds of His creatures. Nothing can be hidden from Allah, as He says in Surah Al-Buruj, verse 9: وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ (“And Allah is Witness over all things”).

He preserves everything and has absolute authority over all things. He sees everything concealed in our hearts. He knows what happened in the past, what is happening in the present, and what will happen in the future. When we contemplate this meaning of Allah’s Name, Al-Muhaymin (The Guardian), and remember that Allah watches over us and knows our actions, we become more conscious of Him and more careful to avoid sin. This awareness helps us to fear Allah and avoid sin.

Al-Aziz

(The Mighty One)

The Strong, The Most Esteemed, The Exalted in Might.

Al-Aziz is the Invincible One Who cannot be overcome. He is the Most Powerful, the Conqueror Who is never conquered or harmed. This is because His strength, glory, and power are overwhelming and cannot be resisted. He is the only One with complete mastery over all creation.

The Name of Allah, Al-Aziz, is mentioned numerous times in the Qur’an. Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى possesses absolute power and can subdue anyone who opposes Him. As for those who deny the truth and disbelieve, He punishes them with justice and fairness, and no one can avert His punishment. He punishes transgressors and can be severe in His punishment.

May Allah deal with us according to His Attributes of Mercy and include us among the believers whom He protects and loves. Ameen.
