Policy for Teachers in the Ramadan Maqraa:
1. General:
- Punctuality: Before agreeing to teach a course, they should confirm their availability for all scheduled dates. Canceling classes is generally not permitted.
- Class Duration: Teachers are required to deliver the full session length without starting late, finishing early, or exceeding the allocated time.
- Arriving Early: Teachers must log in at least 5 minutes before the session begins to verify that all materials and equipment are ready and functioning. Only one device should be used to join the class from the dashboard to prevent technical issues.
- Fixed Schedule: Teachers must commit to the fixed session timings, as these cannot be rescheduled or adjusted.
- Compensation: This program is free for students, while teachers will be compensated at a rate of £3 per hour.
- Code of Conduct: Teachers should maintain respectful communication and good appearance.
2. Technical Preparedness
- Internet Connection: Teachers must ensure a stable and reliable internet connection to avoid interruptions during the session.
- Camera Requirements: Male teachers are required to keep their cameras on during the class to maintain a professional and engaging appearance.
- Contingency Plans: Teachers should have backup measures (e.g., mobile hotspot) in case of unexpected technical issues.
3. Maqraa Halaqa Details
- Duration: The Maqraa Halaqa runs for 30 days during Ramadan, with one Juz’ recited daily.
- Session Length: Each session lasts for one hour.
- Teacher Participation: Each teacher will participate for five days only during the month.
4. Guidelines for Session Conduct
- Starting the Session: The teacher begins by reciting the first page of the Juz’ to inspire students.
- Attendance and Participation: Students must write their names in the Zoom chat upon joining. Reading priority will be based on the order of names.
- Student Recitation: Each student is allotted three minutes to read. If the Juz’ is not completed after all students have read, turns will be repeated.
- Closing the Session: The session concludes with a dua.
- Listening-Only Students: Some students may join to listen only and will not participate in recitation.
- Session Reporting: Teachers will be required to submit a brief report summarizing student attendance and progress after each session in the summary section on the Dashboard.
Additional Guidelines
- Teachers and students will join the session through the dashboard, similar to a regular class on the system. The Zoom link will remain active without disconnecting after 40 minutes.
- Screen sharing is allowed for teachers, so it is recommended to share the Quran so students can easily follow the reading.
- Students do not read a specific number of pages. Instead, each student reads for an equal and allotted time.
- Teachers will not correct minor mistakes (Lahn Khafi) but will focus on major pronunciation errors (Lahn Jali).
- Teachers should avoid answering questions during the session. Questions should be addressed at the end of the session.
- Teachers should only recite the assigned Juz’ for the day, without exceeding or falling short of the required portion, unless instructed otherwise.
- If the class is nearing its end or time runs out due to slow recitation, the teacher may complete the remaining portion of the Juz’ themselves during the final 5 to 7 minutes. The priority is to ensure the assigned portion is finished daily.
- Teachers should use tools like a timer or any other method necessary to monitor and manage time effectively.
